The 2040, also known as Grundig Studio 2040 Hi-Fi Quadro is a powerful four-channel SQ Quadrophony (SQ/matrix). It was a form of music centre consisting of amplifier, tuner, and DUAL 1228 record player turntable. The SQ/matrix system allowed the playback of quadro matrix records over four channels. In addition the decoder could accept radio, disc, and tape inputs. The amplifier had 80-watts (4 × 20-watts) quadraphonic output, or alternatively, 2 × 20-watts stereo output. This was one of the most advanced Grundig systems of the time and highly sought after even today.
